Inventing New Abilities

So how does one go about showing (on the Excel Character Sheet) the Abilities that a character has invented?

A few of my characters have been doing some inventing.  It strikes me that - if they add some inventions in this way - the total CPs (in the leftmost column) will add up to much more than they have earned.

Is that the best way to do it, and to simply mark them as used (by reducing the number of Unspent IPs), having the Total CPs for the character then exceeding the Earned CPs?

@majestic

I've attached a file showing how I do this for my players. I just write up the invented Ability as I normally would, and then put the total IP cost in the far right IP column. Then we record how many IP they have left in the IP field just under legal status.

Put a 0 on the left-hand CP column (or leave it blank) and the Invention's IPs on the right-hand column.

I'd forgotten all about that right-hand column.  Thanks, guys!
