My campaign is based in a loose analog of the V&V universe as described in the MP manual, but I don't have any prior experience with V&V so I'm making up most of the details as I go along.
My players are about to have their first encounter with CHESS, and they're likely to end up butting heads. Attached is what they'll eventually be facing...
Their first meeting will be on board a missing cargo ship whose hold has been infested by insectoid hive-mind aliens who are building a techno-organic and hideous-looking power plant and laying eggs all over the place.

Lost Mines of Phandelver is a pretty great introductory adventure.
We occasionally jokingly chide players (who roll lots of 20's) that they are accidentally using their 'D&D dice' (or vice versa, if they continually roll 1s).

I have always believed that CHESS has a better name than SHIELD. The name is better, the ranks that match chess pieces are better. Way better than the name of my own spy agency SLiCC.
Lately people put a period at the end of every word. So I think the modern millennial spy agency would be Agents of W.E.E. Worst. Episode. Ever.
Their leader would be the comic book guy from the Simpsons.
