Is there an official ruling for how long a character can (normally) hold one's breath? I'm wondering if I missed in in the book.

If not, I'm leaning towards 1 round per point of Endurance.

Cheers,
Tim

Per the rules drowning is Asphyxiation and does 5 Misc (Gas) per round without preparation,
3 with, -2 with practice. See pg. 119, section 5.2.

Hope that helps.

So if I'm reading the Asphyxiation rules properly, it mean a character who suddenly finds that he can't breathe (say he was suddenly immersed in water), then takes 5 points of Other (Gas) damage. If the character was able to hold his breath (say to swim underwater), then he would take 3 points of Other (Gas) damage. It would be 1 point if the character had an appropriate background (pearl diver, snorkel swimmer, professional swimmer, etc.).

Holding one's breath is mentioned in the Physical Ability, G) Super Lungs but no time limit was set. That's what got me thinking about setting a time limit to hold one's breath before the Asphyxiation rule comes into play.
