This is a FortKnight Special Report from Unit One

A disruption at last night’s gala charity event in Boston intended to raise money for the Shuster Sequential Arts Library and Museum threw attendees into a panic. Preliminary reports indicate a “magical spell” rendered the clothing, skin and inner tissue of all the guests transparent, effectively changing the party into what appeared to be walking skeletons. The reported “fiery braying hounds” which then scattered the crowds were later determined to be illusions.

Nearly a million dollars in funds raised were stolen from the event. The perpetrators have since been identified as gangster sorceress and junior leader of The Wizards of Crime, Deborah Kadabra- along with her deceased twin sister, Deborah Kadaver. Kadabra has previously stated that the WOC intends to “settle our debt” with the Super Society.

Authorities report the effects of the transparency spell is wearing off and the appearance of the guests has begun returning to normal. None of the attendees or staff were physically harmed. But it seems the pride of the Super Society has taken a slight bruising. Sources report current Super Society Chairman, Thin Man, is said to have privately chastised official host of the event Magnate, for, among other things, what has been interpreted as a rather petulant comment made to reporters after the incident. Magnate is quoted as saying “Thankfully everyone will be fine. These creeps have had their fun. Pretty soon now, it’ll be time for us to have ours.”

At 6:07 AM this morning the Indestructibles engaged in a successful lift off for their scheduled rendezvous with the 3200 Phaethon asteroid. Although the launch was late by several minutes, the delay is not expected to prevent their timely arrival at Intercept Point.

FortKnight is published bi-weekly every fortnight by Unit One, along with special editions when warranted.
