I have been struggling, on how to go about creating caltrops, and a Caltrop grenade in an arsenal.

Something like this?

Special Weapon, Ranged (AGx2)", 2d6 Sharp Kinetic Damage, 12 Charges (7.5),
Area Effect: 5" (+7.5), Vaporous (lasts until dispersed, about 6 rounds (+0)
Total Cost: (15)

This write-up involves a slight re-purposing of the 'Vaporous' option, but doing it this way is simpler and cheaper than buying a full Duration (and this way makes it possible for somebody to disperse the caltrops sooner, which regular Duration wouldn't allow unless they used Negation on it).

You throw one of these things, and then until it ends anybody who enters the area automatically takes 2d6 sharp kinetic damage. Somebody already within the area when you throw it can try to leap clear, else they take the damage too.

And of course you can fiddle with the damage roll, number of charges, range, and area until it fits your price range and/or does precisely what you want.

Just wanted to add that I am using caltrops for a character and this proved invaluable! Vaporous is an excellent idea to simulate this.

I ended up taking it for less damage and buying down the range, and was able to get 12 of them for only 3 CP.

V&V GM and player since 1982 (my current campaign is 22 years old); also run West End Games d6 Star Wars monthly, as well as the occasional The One Ring and Marvel Heroic Roleplaying game
