The list of hero and villain motivations is one of my favorite parts of the rulebook. As a house rule, I allow characters to use motivations from the opposite list.

For example, a villain could have the motivation Need to Know.

And a reluctant hero could be a Dupe.

its fun. the expanded land of origin table is a huuuuge improvement! the random damage type tables are sweet too.

Not posted, but they can both be found in the LL rulebook.

V&V GM and player since 1982 (my current campaign is 22 years old); also run West End Games d6 Star Wars monthly, as well as the occasional The One Ring and Marvel Heroic Roleplaying game

The best characters have well thought out psychological motivations, and those motivations should be rooted in equally thought out origins. Once you've done that the characters personality is as comfortable as slipping on an old tee shirt
