Since Special Weapons are gear by default (since the Not Gear ability modifier costs +5 CPs), what happens if the Special Weapon uses the Multi-Function Gear ability modifier? Does that mean it would cost the character +2.5 CPs instead of the usual -2.5 CPs cost?

Yes. When Special Weapons are given the Multi Function Gear modifier it costs 2.5 CPs instead of refunding 2.5 CPs.
That's what I thought but I wasn't sure, so I figured I would ask the uni-mind* here.
* Obscure Eternals reference from Marvel comics. The uni-mind was a gestalt entity composed of various Eternals.

Are you using this piece of Gear for an Eternal-like character? Between them and rhe Deviants, they had lots of wacky super-science multifunction Gear.
No, I'm not doing an Eternal write-up (not yet, that is). I was comparing these boards to the Uni-mind. I was working on a few NPCs that had combat exo-suits with built-in special weapons. I just wanted to make sure I was doing the math right.
