Is the PR for Force Field supposed to be 16?  That seems kind of high.

Yes, it's supposed to be 16. Considering how much protection it provides, that's actually very reasonable. Characters who don't have much Power to begin with, or who have other high PR abilities, may be better of swapping that out for 1.5 charges instead.

Any character that is going to utilize Force Field should consider investing in Energy. For each CP invested it adds 2 to your Power. 20 CPs = 40 extra Power which is a little over 2 Force Field activations.

You can also supplement your Power with Siphon, Absorption - Replenishment, and Regeneration - Power to name a few.

Lastly, if you want to go the Gear route, you can either purchase more Charges, or you can pool all of the Charges on all of your gear with the Shared Charges modifier. For example, if you have Power Blast, Flight, and Force Field as gear, you can pay 2.5 per Ability to share their Charges. Power Blast and Flight each get 24, and Force Field has 1 +1 with a 50% activation chance. That's 49.5 Charges in all that can be spent on any of those three abilities.

Cheers!

Hmm, okay.  I would up instead adding the Ability Field modifier to the Light Control: Laser ability, which covers a lot of the same thematic ground without having such a hefty Power cost.

Another option is to buy down the Power cost (which does cost CP).

V&V GM and player since 1982, my current campaign is 29 years old
