I finally watched "Blind Spot", and it was pretty good.

V&V GM and player since 1982 (my current campaign is 22 years old); also run West End Games d6 Star Wars monthly, as well as the occasional The One Ring and Marvel Heroic Roleplaying game

I watched the penultimate episode of the series (which aired on Monday) last night. To be honest, I thought "Blind Spot" was considerably better.

What's the most concise phrase for "considerably worse than pretty good"?

I watched the series finale yesterday. It concludes with a "world altering" event that felt like the forced climax of a slightly disappointing movie. That being said, I am going to DVR the second season when it starts again at some as-yet undefined date in 2012.

The new season of "Alphas" starts on Monday, apparently. I'm going to keep DVR'ing it.

I've now watched the first two episodes of season two and have really liked them.

It's a limited sample, of course. But so far the new season seems to have shifted emphasis from an 'ensemble piece' in the first season to one focusing primarily on the team leader, played expertly by David Straithairn, with the 'Alphas' now a step or two behind him, metaphorically speaking. The meta-plot from season one, about the clandestine government effort to round up the world's mutants and secretly imprison them, was one we would all recognize as already overdone in X-men comics by 1990. So it was welcome that this plot line seemed to be wound up abruptly in the first 10 minutes of the premiere episode of season 2, in favor of the new meta-plot focusing on a seemingly immortal master villain.

Dr. Rosen is a very interesting character. As we saw on last Monday's episode, he's genuinely compassionate about the Alphas. In a "cheaper" show that went for the cynical idiot plot, he'd be a smarmy slime with a hidden agenda.

Meanwhile, his team seems to be able to function without him, and he's starting to notice.

I watched a couple more episodes over the weekend that I'd DVR'd. I particularly liked the super powers of some of the supporting characters in the 'underground fight club' episode.

Though I was a little disappointed that the script writers appear once again to be drawing very direct inspiration from Bronze Age "X-Men" comics. The Dr. Rosen- Stanton Parish relationship is becoming distinctly "Professor X - Magneto"-esque.

Yesterday I watched the most recent episode (which originally aired a couple of weeks back) and am still liking this show.

I mentioned "Alphas" in passing at a Labor Day party. But the only other person who'd seen the show had watched it once last year and wasn't impressed. I suggested giving it another chance.

I continue to like this show. Has anyone else watched episodes from this new season?
