I'd hate to see a RPG that primarily depended upon the dice to further the storyline rather than good character role-playing. I'd stick with Int. providing a measure of Power and Hit Points. It "simulates" the intelligent fighter's ability to last in a fight longer due to his smarts rather than his fast reflexes. Hit Points arent an actual measure of bodily damage taken but rather the measure of a character's ability to remain an effective fighter. IMO

I disagree. One of the most glaring flaws of the D&D/AD&D system were the way hit points worked(or did NOT work as the case seems). It was inconsistent, illogical and lead to game balance issues. Hit points SHOULD be just a measure of how much damage one can sustain before dying and, generally speaking the biggest guys should have the most hit points. We already have "Power" to account for stamina/vigor and correspondingly one's ability to roll with punches/evade(and thus "remain effective during a fight"). No need to also make these a function of "hit points".
Also I do not think Int. should have ANY effect on hit points for the above reasons. "Power"? Maybe... because it sort of makes sense that intellect might figure into one's 'will' and vigor(especially for Psi-powered characters) but I would rather see "Cool" take on this role.

As in-house playtesting continues, I've been fiddling with the effects of Intelligence and Cool, looking for just the right angle.

As it currently stands, Int contributes to Power while Cool contributes (a little) to Hit Points. That seems to be working.
