I figured I'd start a thread to make it easy for people to post any errata from from In Broad Daylight, as well as ask Jack about any clarifications.

1) Holly Cooks doesn't qualify for hyperflight
2) Chiroptera's flight speed has been halved
3) Maurader Undine's Speed Bonus is actually two powers

Thanks to Dominique Sumner for starting this thread. I will be happy to answer any and all questions regarding In Broad Daylight.

Although the nature of this thread should make it obvious, I feel as if I am required to give out the warning that HERE BE SPOILERS!!!

To answer Lionmane's inquiries:

The characters from In Broad Daylight were all randomly rolled. I was quite happy with virtually all of them as rolled, but I did make my own occassional subtle modification to turn a character specifically into what I wanted it to be. I hope nobody has a problem with that.

In the case of Lady Armageddon, I wanted to give the GM an out (if they wanted it) to have Lady Armageddon get away so that she could wreck havoc as a dangling plot thread in their campaign. Pardon my indulgence, and please consider her hyperflight ability a strange side effect of her trip through another dimension. If you agressively dislike it, you might say it wears off. Me, I like the way the she turned out and would keep her as is.

Chiroptera is another adjustment I made because I really didn't see her as a figure that flew with the grace and speed of a bird. I wanted her to be more of a slow gliding, swooping vulture or bat. (Although 234 mph ain't exactly slow...) It didn't bother me that she wouldn't win too many races.

Any lack of clarity over Maurader Undine's swim speed may have been more a problem in the way I wrote the power descriptions. Sorry about that. The speed bonus added inches per turn to her swimming speed and the body power of her tail doubled that again. Swimming is a slow way to travel and I wanted her to be like a speedboat. The Provider would have recruited her (you notice from the different origin stories that, apart from Doctor Phage, she seems to be the only one that he couldn't charm? He had to HIRE her) primarily to watchdog Aeaea. Although she is certainly useful for more than just that.

All that said, please feel free to continue posting away with questions, typos, corrections or whatever you feel like saying about In Broad Daylight.

The way I see it V&V doesn't have "fans", it has players. You don't follow us, we follow you- or at least we try our best to keep up! Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys In Broad Daylight. Jeff and I worked very hard on it and we are very grateful to everyone who have continued to support us and for making our "reunion album" such a success!

Jack, thanks for taking the time to reply, and post the clarifications on the power write-ups.

I'm still reading through this, but, and this is my personal opinion only, I'm still not quite sold on the new format for the V&V character write-ups. While it's nice to be able to print out individual character sheets, the way they're laid out doesn't quite provide as much detail on their powers as it could, especially when compared to the LL write-ups. When you look at the LL write-ups, they're shorter, but seem to provide more information on the way a character's powers function. For example, when you look at the Twisted Man's V&V write-up, it's not quite clear that his power blast is magnetic, and that all of his abilities are from his implants. But, when you read over his LL write-up, it's clearly stated on his sheet. I'd suggest that if the current format is going to continue to be used, an additional paragraph be added, called "Powers", where a brief description of their abilities is included.

I won't recieve mine as it's coming snail mail, but I had a thought reading Jack's response to Lionmane's catches.

Maybe when characters are "customized" outside the standard V&V ruleset there could be an Icon or/and a very short disclaimer letting players know this character has been tweaked for gameplay purposes. Everyone does it, why not the creators? Just let us know somehow when it's done. Heck maybe something as simple as an asterisk in the character power discription.

Or, just post a "Note" to the GM describing what, if any changes were made. Basically it'd include all the info Jack posted above.

I'm not sure how many people remember the V&V conversions of the New Teen Titans that appeared in Different Worlds magazine in 1983. One of the most memorable parts of that article was the the following explanation about the decision to list Wonder Girl's flight as a Body Power rather than as Flight.

Note, her flight ability was reduced to merely a Body Power since she has not been shown to be as fast in the air as her Strength and Endurance scores would allow if she had the normal Flight power.

Body Power was a great way to handle a power that didn't follow the rulebook description, without leaving fans wondering if either they had misread the rulebook or if the character sheet was in error.

Conversely, one could always consider Lady Armageddon to have a Body Power or Mutant Power which was superior to the standard Flight ability, granting super-sonic flight.

Am I mistaken in thinking Moppet (as listed) doesn't have enough Powers? Since she retained a Weakness, Moppet should have at least two Powers.
